I chose this picture because it instantly reminded me of The Grapes of Wrath. When I read the beginning of the book I pictured a family coming out of a small wooden house all sad and looking at their dust covered land. The family in the picture looks like they lived in the country side and not surprised by what they saw. The dad is looking down looking like he is thinking about the mess he is going to have to clean up, again and how he is going to feed his family. The youngest child looks confused and doesn't seem to quite understand what has happened. All of the things in the picture reminds me of the very beginning of The Grapes of Wrath. An innocent family who is struggling to manage their dust covered land and to feed their children.
